Hernandez Thanksgiving Day

This year after Thanksgiving dinner the Hernandez family went shooting in my parents field.  We had a BB gun for the kids, .22 rifles and a 30.06 rifle for the grown ups. We lined up cans and old food storage tins for practice.  Later we had our very own target practice competition.

Josh and Nick shooting.  Nick ended up with the highest score at target practice and Josh with the lowest. Better luck next time!

The 30.06 was really loud, even with ear plugs, so we all covered our ears.

Cammy and Megan took turns helping the girls shoot the BB gun at the pop cans.

The first Hernandez family shoot out.

The kids posing with the BB Gun.

 Megan out shot Michael!

We had a great thanksgiving with good food, fun shooting, and Christmas crafts.  Cammy brought supplies for the girls to make Christmas ornaments and for the women to make pretty Christmas wreaths.  This is how mine turned out.

I am so thankful for the wonderful family I married into.  They are so loving and fun to spend time with.  Michael and I are very blessed to have them in our lives.

Football

Michael's Dad came up for AJ and Jordan Hernandez's wedding reception and we were finally able to take him to a BSU football game.  It sprinkled on us a little but the game was a victory and a lot of fun.

Chelsi's Homecoming!

Chelsi has returned from the Alpine German Speaking Mission and I am so happy to have her back home!  She did not get to report in the old Unity ward because they are doing some extensive remodeling. Mom and Dad now meet at the LDS church on 16th st. Unity building should be completed next summer.  Nonetheless, Chelsi did a beautiful job and it was fun celebrating with family that weekend.  I am grateful to have her back home.  Chelsi is a positive person and always kind and thoughtful.  Now we are saving a $$ to fund a trip to Germany.  Michael and Chelsi wish very much to go back and visit.  It is fun having another German speaker in the family!

They are using part of the baseball field to make additional parking.

The gym is now going to be overflow to the new chapel that is being added to the West of the gym.   They are also taking out the upper primary, and lower young women's room and bathroom so that the building is wheelchair accessible. The old chapel will turn into classrooms.  I am excited for the finished product next summer!

North End Zone: BSU vs BYU

Dad felt a little torn between BSU and BYU at the game, since he studied at BYU in his younger days :).  He wasn't alone.  In the bleachers in front of us we saw a mixed BYU/BSU family.  The girls even sewed half of an orange BSU shirt to a gray BYU shirt.  The game wasn't much to watch with the score being 0-0 at the half.  It didn't pick up much from there with the end game score of 7-6.

We sat in the North end zone.  It was fun watching the kids get super excited to catch the football after the warm up field goal kicks.

Boise was really smokey today.  Just look at the sky in this picture of Michael and Me.

Boise State runs out the clock.  Game over. Boise State Wins.
So glad Mom and Dad could come and take us to the game.  It was a lot different then sitting in the student section.  Next time bring ear plugs... because we were right in front of the speakers.

Orlando Florida Vacation

We spent a week in Florida with my family for Christmas in 2010 and somehow, I never blogged about it.  But just recently Michael surprised me with the most awesome gift.  He made me a picture book of our trip to Disney World through Shutterfly.com.  I couldn't believe it!

Disney World is Huge and there are so many places to visit that it took us 2 days at Epcot, 1 day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, 1 day at Magic Kingdom, and 1 day at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We also spent one day at Universal Studios and saw "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter." Disney World is great fun! It was super decorated for Christmas, which I loved.  We had a coupon for a free book on shutterfly and I had totally forgotten about it.  I guess it was about to expire so Michael beat the deadline and created this awesome picture book for me.  What a sweet guy!

Happy Harvest

I have really been excited about canning and eating from our garden this year.  We (Mom, Dad, Julio, and I) all helped out in the garden this year and it was our best yet.  We grew peas, beans, pumpkins, turnips, basil, radishes, carrots, squash, corn, red potatoes, onions, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce... and I am probably missing several others.  I love eating fresh tomatoes and other fruit from Mom's yard.  Her pears did really well this year as did her raspberries, currents, and strawberries.  I had to take a picture to remember our beautiful garden.

Dad helped me pick corn from Pat and Darrell's house.  We picked 5 bags or so.  Then we came home husked it, washed it, and prepared it for the freezer.  Dad helped me with it all!  I was so glad to have been able to spend the morning and early afternoon working with my Dad in the kitchen and that Pat and Darrell had plenty of corn to spare!

Amy's Party

Amy's 29! Last year before the big 30! So we celebrated with cake and good food. Aside from her birthday gifts and flowers, Mom, Dad, and I helped grade some English grammar papers for school.  It took forever!

Kendra's 6!

Our cute little niece Kendra turned 6!  She started kindergarten this year and is growing up so fast. I was so glad we were able to come and celebrate with her. We camped out with the Garners and partied all weekend.

Michael knows how much Kendra loves fireworks, so that is what we got her for her birthday.  Nothing like chasing after parachute men in the sky.

Cammy made the cutest personal sized piƱatas as party favors.  They were black or red and filled with yummy chocolate treats.

Megan's birthday is only 4 days from Kendra's so she is always crashing the party and we had a little joint party for them both.

We had a fun time playing with the party blowers and with our nieces.  We had a camp out in the backyard so Kendra could try out "tent" camping since she has only gone camping in her trailer.

Saturday we spent our time shooting Kendra's Bow and arrow, playing barbies, and then Kendra kicked our trash at Mario Cart.  What a fun weekend.  Happy Birthday Girly.  Glad we got to spend it with you.

Pomerelle

We made it to Pomerelle! But since it doesn't open until noon.  We hiked around Lake Cleveland to take up some time.  It was a short and beautiful little trek around the lake. Soon after 12 we headed to Pomerelle to ride the lift and play a game of frisbee golf-mountain style. I lost my frisbee several times in the trees.  Good thing Michael had a good eye.  We made it down the mountain with both frisbees and a few rocks in our shoes.

Shooting Guns

Michael and I decided to crash Amy and Juan's date by joining them to go shooting.  It took me a while to get comfortable with the guns.  I just kept thinking "You'll shoot your eye out." We didn't shoot any eyes, but we did shoot targets and water bottles. We shot up the filled water bottles Amy had saved from the Flower shop. Then took turns shooting at targets.  Amy and I got closest to the bulls-eye.

Hernandez Camping 2012

Thompson Flat Campground-Sawtooth National Forest

This year marks another successful camp out with Michael's family.  We wanted to try a different campsite this year instead of going to Indian Springs like we have the past 3 years.  We decided on Thompson Flat Campground near Lake Cleveland.  It turned out to be almost perfect... except for there was no water like we had anticipated and plenty of dirt for the kids to get themselves into trouble with.  The water was an easy fix since Steve and Gloria always seem to take trips in to town while we are camping; this was the perfect excuse for them to do so.  Lake Cleveland was all we needed to wash the dirt off.  We all had a fun afternoon with the kayaks.

The Camping Bunch.... Megan, Julianna and I enjoyed a group hug while trying to deflate the raft.  Michael laughed at us and watched us struggle for a while then told us to roll it up sleeping bag style to squeeze the air out of it.  Now, why didn't I think of that?

We enjoyed two toasty fires courtesy of Nick, Michael, and the girls.  I got a little too close and melted my asics. :(
