Camping with the Newlyweds

We had planned on having another great Hernandez Cousin camping trip at Banbury this year, but the week of things came up and the cousins bailed on us.  So instead of canceling, Michael and I decided to camp out with Megan and Waldo at Lake Cleveland.  I really wanted to camp on the lake, but all the sites were taken.  So instead we pitched our tents at Twin Lakes camp site not too far from the lake.  Steve and Gloria joined us for foil dinners Friday night, and then Saturday we did some kayaking.  Cammy's family came up Saturday to kayak with us too.  Here are the pics from our adventures.

Past Happenings

Here is a smorgasbord of pictures from our past happenings...

Cinco de Mayo party at David's and Juli's before they moved, and before Nikki, and Dallin left on their missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kendra finally gets to let off her birthday fireworks we gave her back in September.  :) Nick couldn't get that darn mushroom to go off.  Sad day.
This has been my first summer with a garden space of my own.  I love working in the garden, and Michael has been a big help.  My bulbs have come and gone, but it was fun while they lasted.  Since this picture we have torn out the radishes and peas in the garden and harvested what we could.  I moved the peppers over so they had more room because our tomato plants are getting so giant.  Steve and Gloria gave us this distressed ammo box that I used to plant a variety of succulents.
Here we are celebrating our first 4th of July away from home together.  It was neat watching the fireworks at Ann Morrison Park.  I had some troubles with my bike, but it got me there and back.  Now Michael is working to get that fixed for me... always another project to do.

Amy's Wedding

I don't have many pictures from Amy's wedding reception because we were so busy fighting the wind and trying to save the food and decorations.  So here are a few pics from the wedding and luncheon.

Amy wore Mom's wedding dress.  It looked beautiful on her.  All mom had to do was repair the lining and make the sleeves more fitted at the wrist.
Ryan flew out from Georgia for the wedding too... I just don't have many pics and Amy is still waiting for her pictures from the photographer.

Here we are at the Boise, ID LDS Temple.  It was a super hot day!  Glad we weren't the one's dressed up in wedding gear.

This is the yummy luncheon food.  We ate at Famous Dave's and they bring the food out on a giant garbage can lid.  I thought it was so funny, that I made Michael take a picture.

Hopefully I get more pictures of the wedding reception to share on here.  We did so much work putting it altogether I want to post the results before it got ruined by the wind storm.

1/25/2013 Finally a photo update! Here are some professional pictures from the beautiful wedding and backyard reception/ring ceremony.

Megan's Wedding

The weather was perfect for this Idaho wedding in May.  You just never know what you are going to get, wind, rain, hail, snow...
Megan and Waldo were married in the Twin Falls, Idaho LDS Temple.  The ceremony was in Spanish which was very neat.  I understood most of it, probably because the temple worker was a gringo. :)
Michael tried to video most of the reception for Megan and he caught some interesting things on tape.  He caught a couple of people doing an B.O. check, sniffing their pits right in front of the camera.  He videoed some crazy dance moves too.  I wish I would have had some video footage of my wedding reception....live and learn right?

This is Megan's wedding cake.  She didn't want anything big or fancy, so I volunteered my mother's services.  Mom is so talented and Megan was not a picky bride at all.  I think the cake turned out beautifully and tasted very good too.
Here is my contribution to the wedding.  I made the wedding flowers and really had fun doing it.  Megan didn't restrict my creative juices by any means.  I basically got to do whatever I wanted as long as I matched the wedding colors.  So, I incorporated pictures of Waldo's parents and Megan's belated Mom, Holly, since they couldn't be there in person to celebrate with them.  The reception was a great success and they received some very nice wedding presents too.  The happy couple is living in Provo this summer and will move up to Pocatello for Megan to finish her last year of school at ISU.

The latest project...

Michael inherited this rusted out tool box from his Grandpa Everardo Hernandez.  Michael spent a great deal of time sanding, taping, painting, and repainting this little tool box. Grandpa Hernandez's nickname at work was Eveready.  I love how Michael incorporated that into the box, it looks awesome and is a sweet way of remembering him.

Graduation Party

We had a little BBQ to celebrate Michael graduating from the Rad-tech program at Boise State University.  He is already working as an RT, but is now finished with school and can take the boards and hopefully get a raise. :) He was accepted into the CT program and will finish that in one semester next fall, completing his bachelors degree.

Cammy and Nick came up Friday night with their girls and we had fun feeding the ducks, playing tennis, ridding the paddle boats, and playing at the parks/playgrounds.

Saturday Michael's parents, Megan & Waldo, and my parents came up for a fun family BBQ and Michael's graduation banquet for the RT program.  It was a fun night celebrating him and all that he has accomplished so far.  I'm so proud of him.

The Bridal Shower

The bridal shower for Megan came together smoothly.  Unfortunately the timing didn't work for a lot of Megan's family and friends, so we had just a small shower for her.  She still ended up with a car load of goodies.  She is set for camping and has a good start on her food storage, thanks to Aunt Margarita and her girls.  The wedding is Friday May 24th.  I am excited to make her wedding flowers and be there for her wedding.

M and W for Megan and Waldo.
Aunt Marsha and Grandma Vera
After the reception I got to spend some quality time with my sisters, eating fruit loops and checking out antique shops.  We had a great weekend.
